Is the Fizz Referral Bonus $25 or $40? The Verified Answer

Updated 2026-07-14 · fact-checked against official Fizz sources

The guaranteed amount is $25 for you and $25 for your friend — that's what Fizz's official program page shows in all five provinces, verified July 14, 2026. Outside Quebec, some fizz.ca pages still advertise a $40 bonus. The only number that counts is the one your own checkout displays before you submit the order.

The contradiction, in black and white

On July 14, 2026, we loaded Fizz’s official pages in all five regional variants of the site — fizz.ca serves different content based on a region cookie (QC, ON, AB, BC, MB), and we tested each one. Here is exactly what each page displayed that day:

Official pageRegion testedAmount shown
fizz.ca/en/invite-friends (the program page)All 5 regions”$25 for you, $25 for your friend”
fizz.ca/fr/inviter-des-amis (program page, FR)All 5 regions« 25 $ pour vous, 25 $ pour votre ami »
fizz.ca/en/mobile (plans-page FAQ)Ontario”you’ll get a $40 bonus”
fizz.ca/en/mobile/quebec and fizz.ca/fr/mobile (FAQ)Quebec$25

Yes, you read that right: fizz.ca contradicts itself, live, today. The referral program page says $25 everywhere — including with the Ontario cookie — while the plans-page FAQ served to an Ontario visitor still promises a $40 bonus. Neither page mentions the other number.

Where the $40 comes from

The $40 isn’t made up. In September 2025, Fizz launched (via sponsored campaign) a boosted $40 bonus for Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario — Quebec stayed at $25. It was the first region-split bonus in the program’s history.

That boost ended sometime before June 4, 2026: an archived capture of the program page from that date, served in the British Columbia variant, already shows “$25 for you, $25 for your friend.” Our July 14, 2026 checks confirm $25 on the program page in all five regions.

The $40 surviving in the Ontario plans-page FAQ is therefore either leftover copy from the 2025-2026 campaign that Fizz forgot to clean up, or a regional offer still honoured at checkout but pulled from the program page. There’s no way to settle it from the outside — and that’s exactly why Fizz’s legal notes matter: they state the amount “may vary depending on the provinces where the plans are activated, as well as the offer in effect at the time of subscription.” Region-variable amounts are an official feature of this program, not a bug.

Guaranteed, possible, dead

The only test that counts: your own checkout

Fizz has no pre-applied referral link: the code is typed by hand, in a single field, at checkout. That gives you one advantage — the amount displays before you pay anything.

  1. Build your plan on fizz.ca (at least $20 per month — see below).
  2. Before submitting the order, enter the referral code — the code on this page — in the field provided. It’s the same field used for promo codes, and you can’t use both: promo code vs referral code.
  3. The order summary shows the bonus for your region. If it says $40, you get $40. If it says $25, you get $25. For mobile, the amount locks in on your SIM activation date.

One unforgiving warning: the code can never be added afterwards. Forget it on your first Fizz plan order, and the bonus is gone for good — the field doesn’t even appear for a second plan. The full walkthrough is in where to enter the code, and if something goes wrong, the code isn’t working.

The complete amount history

The program has existed since at least 2019 with the same structure: both sides paid at the new member’s two-month anniversary, unlimited referrals, credit on payments only. What moves is the amount:

PeriodAmount (each)Nature
Since July 2019 (earliest archive)$25base amount
April 20 – June 15, 2020$35promo
April 14–15, 2021$50flash promo (2 days)
November 19 – December 3, 2021$100two-week “blitz”
November 1, 2022 – January 10, 2023$50holiday promo
July 25 – August 30, 2024$40summer promo
November 2024 – mid-January 2025$35Black Friday/holiday promo
September 2025 – before June 4, 2026$40 in ON/MB/AB/BC; $25 in QCfirst region-split bonus
July 14, 2026 (today)$25 everywhere (program page)base amount

RedFlagDeals threads also mention a $75 spike that we couldn’t anchor to a dated archive; we list it as unconfirmed. The pattern itself is clear: boosts cluster around Black Friday, the holidays and mid-summer, last from two days to two months, and always fall back to $25.

Why other sites say “$40 guaranteed”

The Fizz referral-code niche is full of sites headlining “$40 bonus” or “up to $100” in July 2026. They’re quoting the 2025-2026 campaign (over, per the program page) or the old blitzes. Some press articles “updated in 2026” are actually July 2024 promo write-ups with an auto-refreshed date stamp. No code pays more than any other: the code on this page, one from the Fizz forum, or your neighbour’s all pay exactly the same amount — the one your checkout displays. Our full method is documented in how we verify.

The conditions, in brief

Current stacked promo (dated context)

As of this writing, Fizz’s official pages state “current offers are valid until July 16” (2026), and new-member extras are circulating alongside referral codes — one free month and bonus data have been reported. It’s a window that expires within days of our check: don’t count on any of it unless you see it in your own order. If the window has passed by the time you read this, the base bonus described above is what applies.

Verification note

Verified July 14, 2026 against all 5 regional variants of fizz.ca (region cookies QC, ON, AB, BC, MB), on the program page in both languages, the official program FAQs, and the regional plan pages. Captures are archived. This page will be updated, with a date, at the next amount change — the same process described in how we verify.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Fizz referral bonus $25 or $40?

Both numbers are live on fizz.ca right now. The official program page shows $25 + $25 in all five provinces (verified July 14, 2026), but the plans-page FAQ served to Ontario visitors still promises $40. The guarantee is $25; outside Quebec you might get $40 — only your order summary confirms it.

How do I find out the exact amount I'll get?

Enter the referral code in the field provided before submitting your order: the amount for your region displays right there. For mobile, the amount locks in on your SIM activation date. See where to enter the code.

When is the bonus paid out?

At the new member's two-month anniversary: after their second monthly payment, they receive their bonus, and the referrer's bonus applies on the referrer's next payment after that. Both accounts must be active at that moment. Details: after activation.

Does the cheapest plan qualify for the bonus?

No. The new member's plan must cost at least $20 per month, before taxes and after discounts. The $14–17 talk-only plans don't qualify. See which plans qualify.

Could the $100 bonus come back?

Nobody outside Fizz knows. The history shows promo spikes ($35 to $100) clustered around Black Friday and mid-summer, never announced in advance. This page logs every verified change, with its date.

Can I combine a referral code with a promo code?

No. At Fizz, both code types share a single field at checkout — it's one or the other. Compare before you choose: promo code vs referral code.
